The academy includes three core components: a one-week intensive course; a full year of structured mentoring and learning opportunities to support development of a CBPR partnership; and access to a Community-Academic Scholars Network for ongoing networking and support. Crowdfunded Course in Using the Command Line for Scientific Computing

A new video course called "Learn the Command Line...for Science!" is calling for backers on Kickstarter.com. This class will walk trained scientists through the basics of using the command line interface, an absolute requirement to run scientific applications and take advantage of high performance computing resources. It is also great preparation for learning to code, and eventually contribute new and novel tools to computational science.

Prevalence & Risk Factors for Vascular Dysfunction in Pediatric Cardiac Transplant Recipients

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Cardiovascular Imaging Research Core (CIRC) is looking for healthy volunteers ages 10-21 for a new vascular research study. This study is designed to learn more about the vascular function in heart transplant recipients and its influence on cardiac function. The study results may help target some risk factors to improve vascular function. The one, free exam is painless and requires the volunteer to lie down for the majority of the visit for a blood pressure test and imaging exams. Volunteers will be compensated their time and travel. Babies who join will have seven appointments at Emory Children's Center. Reimbursement for travel and study visits is available.

The Marketscan Databases: Powerful Databases for Medical Research-January 15

Emory¿s Department of Pediatrics Division of Neurology partnered with several other groups at Emory to purchase a 12-month academic license to the 2009-2013 MarketScan® Commercial Claims and Encounters (CCAE) and Medicare Supplemental and COB (MDCR) databases. The license allows all faculty and research staff in the Emory School of Medicine to use the data for intramural sponsored research for a nominal cost-share fee.
