NIH POCTRN: Innovative Technologies to Increase U.S. Capacity for COVID-19 Testing – Rolling Submission

The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) is urgently soliciting proposals and can provide up to $500M across multiple projects to rapidly produce innovative SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests that will assist the public’s safe return to normal activities. Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx), is a fast-track technology development program that leverages the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Point-of-Care Technology Research Network (POCTRN). NIBIB will support the full range of product development including commercialization and product distribution.

New R01, R21 Pair of COVID-19 Emergency FOAs – Rolling Submission

NIAID recently issued two new funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) as part of our continuing effort to support research on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The two FOAs are ideal for applicants proposing new coronavirus-related research projects. The scope and nature of your proposed research project should guide your decision whether to apply through the R01 or R21 FOA. They feature rolling submission, meaning you can apply as soon as it is ready and NIAID will review it in an expedited fashion.

NOSI: Availability of Emergency Competitive Revisions for Research on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) (NOT-RM-20-015) - Due Now through June 19

The NIH Common Fund received $30 Million from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, 2020 to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, domestically or internationally. OSC issued this Notice of Special Interest (NOSI), an opportunity for emergency competitive revisions to Common Fund grants and cooperative agreements to support innovative, impactful research on COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2 in any area of research including behavioral/social science, health disparities, and novel therapeutics that fits within the mission of an emergency response to provide critical expertise, resources or activities.

Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research - Apply Now

NIH and CDC notify PD(s)/PI(s) holding specific types of research grants that funds are available for administrative supplements to enhance the diversity of the research workforce by recruiting and supporting students, postdoctorates, and eligible investigators from underrepresented backgrounds, including those from groups that have been shown to be nationally underrepresented in health-related research. This supplement opportunity is also available to PD(s)/PI(s) of research grants who are or become disabled and need additional support to accommodate their disability in order to continue to work on the research project. This FOA is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary clinical trial. The goal of the MP3 Initiative is to facilitate and grow basic and applied infectious disease research across scales at Emory University, from molecules and pathogens within hosts to populations and pandemics, with a focus on COVID-19. An explicit requirement of funding through this program is therefore the subsequent submission of extramural grants. Seed grants are only awarded to teams of researchers from different schools at Emory. Partnerships with the CDC and the Carter Center are strongly encouraged.

The Center for Pediatric Cellular Therapies (CPCT) is accepting Late Stage Preclinical/IND Enabling Research and Clinical Trial Launch Grant applications. CURE ID is an internet-based repository that lets the clinical community report novel uses of existing drugs for difficult-to-treat infectious diseases through a website, a smartphone or other mobile device.
