The goal of this joint call for proposals is to foster a new generation of research and interventions at the intersection of HIV and injury. Injury and HIV share multiple common determinants (e.g., ACEs, structural discrimination), and parallel inequities exist in the burden of each. Pilot project applications should be designed to build the foundation for a future, externally funded (e.g., NIH R01) grant that will advance NIH HIV Research priority areas as well as CDC NCIPC research priorities and IPRCE priorities.

Phlebotomy 101 Training - July 28 & 29
GCRCs now offer 13.8 contact hours for completing Phlebotomy 101 Training, an introductory training to venipuncture. The two-day classroom and clinical hands-on training teaches venipuncture. This course is offered to research coordinators and led by GCRC nurses. Open to Emory University, Emory Healthcare, and Georgia CTSA employees at MSM and UGA. The next training is July 28-29. Free Online Trainings for Clinical Research Professionals
Georgia CTSA and the University of Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute (SC CTSI) have created an Online Course Catalog with a free course and program offerings available to clinical research professionals. Participants earn a certificate or badge with contact hours (continuing education – CE) from an accredited provider upon completion of a course or a program (series of courses). Contact hours can be used to meet requirements for CRP certification renewal. The newest program, “Innovation to Translation: Role of Genomics in Medical Product Development,” is now available online. QUAL-WORKS: Qualitative Research Workshops
QUAL-WORKS offers a series of training workshops on qualitative research. We offer three types of workshops: scheduled workshops, individual mentored sessions, and customized workshops. Scheduled workshops are held twice a year during summer. Mentored sessions provide individual mentoring with a QUAL-WORKS expert on your own research project. Customized workshops can be developed to meet the training needs of your organization.

Faculty and postdocs are welcome to enroll in a fall semester course that is part of the curriculum in the Certificate Program in Translational Research at the Laney Graduate School. Tuition awards are not available, but faculty and postdocs at Emory may be eligible for the Emory Courtesy Scholarship if employed for at least one year. Tuition awards are not available, but Emory faculty and postdocs may be eligible for the Emory Courtesy Scholarship which would cover tuition for the course. This is a semester-long course that meets on Tuesdays, from 3:10 PM to 5:00 PM from August 30 until December 6, 2022.
