Facilitate Your IRB Submission

Start early. Multiple ancillary reviews from others may be required for approval. Unforeseen delays in budgets or reliance agreement negotiations do occur. IRB submissions often cluster, and your submission may coincide with a large volume of submissions. Know, IRB "time to review" is not equivalent to "time to approval". Often submissions will need revisions or additional forms, data, or explanations for approval. Accelerated-handling approval cannot compensate for slow starts. It is frequently requested but reserved for studies meeting specific guidelines. IRB applications are detailed, and life may throw some personal or professional curveballs at the timeline.
