Georgia CTSA Clinical Research Centers Enable Innovative Influenza Vaccine Research

With the operational support and clinical research infrastructure provided by the Georgia CTSA Clinical Research Centers, the study, “Longitudinal Analysis of Bone Marrow and Peripheral Blood Immune Responses to Influenza Vaccination in a Healthy Adult Cohort,” is being conducted by researchers at Emory University to examine why seasonal flu vaccines do not provide long-term immunity and what can be done to address this question.

Researchers Develop a Safer, More Reliable Material for Growing Small-Scale Models of the Human Gut

In a new study, Georgia Tech researchers and collaborators created a fully synthetic gel alternative to Matrigel, designed to give intestinal stem cells what they need to grow and organize into healthy tissue. “We are excited about engineering this synthetic matrix as an alternative to natural materials and expect that it will accelerate human organoid research and clinical applications,” says Georgia CTSA PI Andrés J. García, PhD, Georgia Tech.

UGA MTM Shared Resources Pilot Program - Apply by July 31

The deadline for the UGA Institute for Multidisciplinary Translational Medicine (MTM) Shared Resources Pilot Program has been extended to Friday, July 31. This opportunity offers $5,000–$10,000 to support pilot projects using Spatial Biology and Integrated Genomics Shared Resources. This funding supports preliminary data generation, manuscript development, student technical training, and collaborative projects positioned for future external funding. Applicants must consult with SBIG personnel at least one week before the deadline.

Fall 2026 Clinical and Translational Science Courses Available to Non-Degree Students - Apply by August 14

Emory faculty, postdocs, and PhD students are welcome to enroll in the following fall semester courses via Zoom through the Laney Graduate School: MSCR 515 Scientific Communication for Clinical & Translational Science, MSCR 596 Advanced Data Management in R, and CPTS 500 Fundamentals of Epidemiology. Tuition awards are not available, but faculty and postdocs at Emory may be eligible for the Emory Courtesy Scholarship if employed for at least one year.
