Former Georgia CTSA UL1 Diversity Scholar to Lead Maternal Health Research Center of Excellence
NIH has established Maternal Health Research Centers of Excellence and selected Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) as one of ten research centers. This initiative will support research to reduce pregnancy-related complications and death and promote maternal health equity. Building on the excellent foundation as Georgia IMPROVE co-lead, former Georgia CTSA UL1 Diversity Scholar Natalie Hernandez, PhD, MPH, will serve as MSM Principal Investigator.

Georgia CTSA Welcomes 2023-2024 MSCR and CPTS Students
Join us in welcoming 2023-2024 clinical and translational research and science students! The Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) provides innovative didactic and mentored research training to those pursuing a career in clinical and/or translational research. The Certificate Program in Translational Science (CPTS) is for trainees who seek to conduct research at the interface between basic and translational science and clinical medicine.

The Halle Institute-Tel Aviv University Collaborative Research Grant (CRG) is now open to all full-time faculty members from across Emory's nine schools. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals for innovative collaborative research projects linking with faculty from one of our partner universities. The research may take place in any country or region as long as it is done collaboratively.

The NIH Common Fund is accepting applications for the Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS) Health Equity Research Hubs (Hubs). The goals of ComPASS are to 1) develop, share, and evaluate community-led health equity structural interventions that leverage partnerships across multiple sectors to reduce health disparities and 2) develop a new health equity research model for community-led, multisectoral structural intervention research across NIH and other federal agencies. Emory SOM Image, Innovate, and Impact (I3) GCMI Research Awards RFP – Due October 24
In partnership with Georgia CTSA, SOM is soliciting Emory proposals that will accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries to health benefits through collaborations between Emory and GCMI. Proposals are intended to improve patient care by more effectively and efficiently developing and commercializing devices and products through preclinical and product development services. Collaborations with GCMI are required.

NIH Build UP Trust Challenge – Due November 14
The NIH Build UP Trust Challenge seeks solutions that increase research participation and the adoption of medical care by building trust and improving engagement with historically underserved communities. The NIH Build UP Trust prize challenge aims to identify new and promising scalable strategies that increase research participation and the adoption of existing and new tools and approaches to detect, treat, and monitor diseases, conditions, and disorders by improving engagement with minority health populations and populations with health disparities .

NOSI: Next-Generation Approaches to Renal Replacement Therapy Including Vascular Access – Due January 5
This notice of special interest (NOSI) aims to support the development of innovative approaches to renal replacement therapy and address critical accompanying challenges such as vascular access and fluid management during dialysis. It is anticipated that the funded applications will propose to develop and test in appropriate models and/or research participants novel technologies related to renal replacement therapy.

Phlebotomy 101 Training – September 21 & 22
Phlebotomy 101 is a two-day introductory classroom and clinical hands-on training that teaches the techniques of venipuncture to research coordinators monthly and is led by GCRC nurses. The course is only offered to Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), and the University of Georgia (UGA) faculty and staff. The Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program
The Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program from the Small Business Administration is meant to help increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of SBIR/STTR applications from each for the states. For startups in the state of Georgia that are competitive for an SBIR/STTR, we are able to offer $2450 to help cover the upfront fee of hiring a grant writing consultant to help that startup craft and submit their SBIR/STTR. Tour de Flow 2023 – September 12-13
This two-day event will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of flow cytometry, from basic principles to advanced applications.
