TEAMS Program
The Georgia CTSA TEAMS (Translational Education and Mentoring in Science) Program provides faculty, postdocs, and clinical fellows from our member institutions the opportunity to develop professional skills in the areas of translational and clinical research, with special emphasis on multidisciplinary teams. This innovative, cohort-based model takes a three-pillared approach to mentoring and includes group mentoring through learning communities, 1:1 mentoring,and additional training and resources via online databases and content experts.
Fellows selected to participate in our cohort will have the opportunity to participate in both in-person and virtual mentoring during the 9-month program.

Program Goals
Fellows
Fellows participating in this program will have the opportunity to meet colleagues from other Georgia CTSA institutions, improve communication skills, understand their strengths and areas for development through self-assessment, hone grant writing skills, obtain 1:1 and group mentoring, and develop a personalized individual development plan.
Mentors
Learning Community mentors and 1:1 mentors will enhance their personal mentoring skills, improve communication skills, obtain access to the mentoring toolkit, and receive recognition as Georgia CTSA Mentor of Excellence at program completion.
Program at a Glance
Learning Communities
Fellows selected for the program will be divided into small groups based on level of experience and institution. Each group will be led by a Learning Community Mentor who will guide the discussion and assist in defining the curriculum for the group. These curriculums are flexible and self determined, fellows are encouraged to bring their own topics for the group to discuss. Content experts will be invited to participate in monthly video-conferenced meetings to present on topics as determined by the group.
1:1 Mentoring
Fellows will be matched with an individual mentor. Pairs are expected to meet once per month for at least one hour. Meetings can take place remotely via Skype, Zoom, etc., or in person.
Mentoring Toolkit
A content-rich website with resources to support both mentors and fellows is now available. Resources include articles of interest, training materials, an Individual Development Plan, and a mentoring agreement.
Program Kickoff
Selected fellows, learning community mentors, and our 1:1 mentors will attend the program kickoff meeting. Both fellows and mentors will participate in a program overview session, networking lunch, and individual development plan (IDP) workshop. Fellows will also obtain personalized feedback on a strength-based assessment, receive communication skills training, and have dedicated time to begin working on their IDP. Additional details will be shared with our mentors and selected fellows!
Mid-Year Event
All Fellows will meet again for this half-day event with speed networking and a dynamic speaker on a team science topic.
Graduation
We’ll join together one last time to celebrate the graduation of fellows from the program and recognize the outstanding contributions of our mentors.
