Georgia CTSA Executive Center Administrator Recognized by Emory for 30 Years of Service
Congratulations to Andrew C. West, MBA, MPH, for 30 years of service to Emory University. Andrew was honored by President Gregory L. Fenves and university leaders during the 2024 luncheon , alongside fellow employees celebrating milestone service anniversaries. When asked about his favorite memories, he recalled, “the day I accidentally infiltrated a security detail of some serious VIPs.” Thank you, Andrew, for your dedication and contributions!

Georgia CTSA Pilot Grants RFP
Georgia CTSA's Pilot Grants program is soliciting proposals that either generate preliminary data and refine research strategies for subsequent extramural grant applications or develop the best approaches and methodologies to address complex translational and clinical research problems. Health Equity is currently the central theme of the Georgia CTSA, and grants focused on Health Equity are strongly encouraged. LOI due January 15 at 5:00 PM.

HERCULES Exposome Research Center Pilot Project Program — LOI Due December 6
The HERCULES Exposome Research Center will soon be accepting applications for its 2025-2026 Pilot Project Program, offering six awards of $30,000 for research in environmental health sciences. The program supports developmental projects aiming for NIEHS R21 or R01 grants, with a focus on the exposome. Open to Emory and Emory-Georgia Tech investigators. Georgia CTSA Pilot Grants – LOI Due January 15
The Georgia CTSA Pilot Grants Program is now accepting proposals to support innovative translational and clinical research. Awards of up to $40,000 for single-institution projects and $50,000 for multi-institution collaborations are available. Proposals addressing health equity and interdisciplinary collaborations are strongly encouraged. Letters of Intent Due: January 15 by 5:00 PM. Proposals Due: March 3 by 5:00 PM.

University Research Committee RFP — Proposals Due January 17
The Emory University Research Committee (URC) invites faculty to submit proposals for the 2025-2026 funding cycle. The URC supports innovative research across six categories, including Arts, Biological and Health Sciences, and Social Sciences. Participate in Pilot Testing: Behavior-Based Mentoring Tool for Translational Scientists – Deadline December 6
The CTSA Translational Science Competency-Based Assessment Working Group is piloting a behavior-focused mentoring tool to assess translational science skills. Influential Mentoring Training Series
The Research Education Core at the Georgia CTSA is offering the Influential Mentoring Training Series, a monthly, hour-long interactive Zoom series for FACULTY ONLY from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on January 8, February 19, March 5, April 2. Led by Dr. Dawn Comeau, this series focuses on enhancing equitable mentorship for diverse trainees. Topics include assessing mentees’ understanding, using coaching approaches, evaluating mentorship, and adopting five practices for success. View Flyer.

Request for Collaborators on Traumatic Brain Injury Study
This is a request for collaboration on the research study: Propranolol TO Survive Traumatic Brain Injury, PROTOS-TBI, trial. Dr. Mayur Patel from Vanderbilt University Medical Center (partnering with Meharry Medical College) is seeking collaborators for a randomized controlled trial aimed at identifying the optimal propranolol dosing for patients with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury. This is a request for collaboration on the research study: Neuroprotection following Cardiac Arrest: A randomized Control Trial of Magnesium. Dr. Sam Parnia from NYU SOM is seeking collaborators for a randomized controlled trial aimed at understanding the feasibility of administering magnesium in addition to standard care to help improve survival and minimize functional and neurological disability due to cerebral ischemia following cardiac arrest.
