Training Tomorrow’s Leaders: Georgia CTSA TL1 Trainees in Action at Translational Science 2025
Sharing scientific progress, fostering collaborations, and advocating for the future of translational science, Georgia CTSA TL1 trainees traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in Translational Science 2025 , the national conference hosted by the Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS). Held April 14–17, 2025, the event brought together trainees, researchers, and institutional leaders from across the country.

* POCTRN Innovation Awards — Due June 6
Do you have a groundbreaking point-of-care technology ready for further development? The Point-of-Care Technology Research Network (POCTRN)) is pleased to announce six new innovation award opportunities from its centers. We are currently seeking applications from academic and industry applicants who have innovative point-of-care technologies in areas of chronic disease, infectious disease and disease prevention, such as cancer detection, heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders, STIs, emerging infectious disease in low-resource settings, and more. Awards up to $150,000, may also receive 12 months of in-kind support services.

Emory SOM P4 Fast Track Awards – Ongoing
Emory SOM in partnership with Winship, CHOA, Grady, and CFAR, invites applications for the P4 (Pivot, Proposal, and Planning Program) Fast Track Awards—a new funding mechanism supporting SOM faculty whose grants were recently terminated due to federal funding shifts. Awards of up to $100,000 (direct costs) are available for one year, with potential for renewal. Eligible PIs must propose a novel research pivot aligned with NIH priorities and have ≤$200K in other direct funding. Learn More.

NCATS invites applications for the Awards Supporting Cutting-Edge Technologies for Translational Science (ASCETTS) NOFO to foster investigator-initiated development of highly innovative technologies to address barriers, limitations, or bottlenecks in translational science – particularly for therapeutic development. The research proposed should be for the development of technology that can break new ground or extend present technology toward new directions or novel applications.

Phlebotomy 101 Training — May 29 & 30

Emory invites applications for its NIH-funded T32DK108735 Research Training Program in Translational Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This program trains postdoctoral fellows (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD) in precision GI and hepatology through translational research and interdisciplinary mentorship.

Qual Works: Qualitative Research Workshops — May
Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health is offering online workshops in Qualitative Research Methods (May 12-16) and Qualitative Data Analysis (May 19-23), each priced at $950 (students: $700). Mentored sessions are also available on May 21 and May 28 for $400 each. These workshops are ideal for individuals involved in qualitative research design, data collection, analysis, or supervision.
