Georgia CTSA Hosts TL1 / TL32 Schnaper Visiting Scientist Grand Rounds Join Georgia CTSA as we host a visiting TL1 trainee in a Grand Rounds lecture via Zoom. Michael H. Ronzetti , graduate student, University of Maryland and NCATS, will present his research on "Advancing Lyme Disease Therapeutics Through a Multimodal Screening Approach" on July 26 at 12:00 ET. Grand Rounds provide senior predoctoral students and postdoctoral fellows an opportunity to present substantial data to a national audience.

Georgia CTSA TL1 Trainee Sadie Mason Receives Warshaw Fellow Research Award
Congratulations to Georgia CTSA TL1 Trainee Sadie Mason, MD, Emory, who received the Warshaw Fellow Research award, a $5,000 grant from the Pediatric Research Alliance. The awards encourage pediatric trainees to engage in high quality research, provide a mechanism to fund trainee projects, and enhance the research environment at Children's. Mason expressed gratitude to Georgia CTSA’s Research Education faculty for her Grant Writing course.

NOFO invites eligible US small businesses to submit Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant applications. Small businesses with research capabilities and technological expertise that can contribute to the R&D missions of the NIH, CDC, and FDA are encouraged to apply. *Emory Neuro Networks Initiative Request for Applications - LOI Due August 16
The Emory NeuroNetworks Initiative (NNI) will provide seed funding up to $125,000 to increase the number of extramurally funded cross-disciplinary neuroscience-related grants to Emory investigators. This funding will stimulate transformative translational research in the neurosciences. These funds will support grant planning and collection of key preliminary data and are intentionally focused on supporting cross-departmental, translational, multi-scale, multi-PI research. Use of cores is highly encouraged! Child health researchers are eligible for generous subsidies when using our Pediatric Research Cores .

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Clinical Trial Participation from Underrepresented Groups – LOI Due September 12
Academy Health is working with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to disseminate latest RFP under Equity in Access Research Program. “Building Evidence for Effective Interventions to Increase Therapeutic Cancer Clinical Trial Accrual: Promoting Access for Patients from Underrepresented Groups,” will fund research studies that will increase our understanding of effective interventions for increasing accrual in therapeutic cancer clinical trials, particularly among underrepresented populations. LLS will review submissions to allocate up to $2.5 million per funded study over 5 years, with awards to begin July 1, 2025.

This is a request for collaboration on the research study: Insertable Cardiac Monitor for Primary Atrial Fibrillation Detection in High-Risk Heart Failure Patients, ASSERT-AF, trial. Dr. Ilan Goldenberg from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking collaborators for this trial using an insertable cardiac monitor to determine the burden of atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias in high-risk heart failure patients.

Call for Rural Health Papers – Submit an Inquiry by July 19
Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD), a public health journal published by the CDC, welcomes submissions for its upcoming collection, Rural Health Disparities: Contemporary Solutions for Persistent Rural Public Health Challenges . The goal of this collection is to capture current solutions to these challenges. Peer-reviewed articles in this collection will help advance the discourse on rural public health beyond biomedical models for chronic disease prevention. PCD encourages authors to explore the social determinants of health, environmental influences, policy interventions, and community-based initiatives contributing to chronic disease prevention in rural areas.
