The ACTSI’s Research Technologies program established a Proof-of-Principle Technology Fund which, facilitates a focused approach to identifying and investing in new, enabling technologies aligned with the ACTSI strategic goals.

Encourages the development of medical research in child health by awarding small grants to new researchers to help them gain a foothold in pediatric research.

Awards granted to students of science and engineering for travel expenses to and from a research site or for purchase of non-standard lab equipment necessary to complete a specific research project.

Program grants are awarded to teams of independent researchers at any stage of their careers with emphasis on novel collaborations that bring together scientists preferably from different disciplines to focus on problems in the life sciences.

The purpose of this project is to conduct physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling to relate critical quality attributes to in vivo performance for bioequivalence (BE) evaluation and perform population pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) modeling and statistical analysis to identify ways to reduce residual variability and identify appropriate PK metrics, enabling BE assessment in parallel BE studies with acceptable sample size.

The primary focus of grantmaking is on health and nutritional issues affecting infants and young children.

This FOA solicits applications that use a multi-disciplinary systems biology approach to study the molecular interaction networks of the pathogen and the host in association with antibacterial resistance or in response to treatment of antibacterial resistant infections.

The centers will provide critical research infrastructure, shared facilities, services, and/or resources to groups of investigators conducting research on musculoskeletal biology and medicine, enabling them to conduct their independently-funded individual and/or collaborative research projects more efficiently and/or more effectively, with the broad overall goal of accelerating, enriching, and enhancing the effectiveness of ongoing basic, translational, and clinical research and promoting new research within the NIAMS mission.

The goal of this FOA is solicit grant applications that propose to extend the experimental protocols developed through the Human Connectome Project to middle-age and elderly adults to investigate the structural and functional changes that occur in the brain during typical aging. The goal of this FOA is to support pilot testing of natural products (i.e., botanicals, dietary supplements, and probiotics), which have sufficient early-stage data to justify further clinical testing of the product. Exploratory Clinical Trials of Natural Products in NCCIH High Priority Research Topics (R33)

The goal of this interagency FOA is to support the development of multi-scale models to accelerate biological, biomedical, behavioral, environmental, and clinical research. Further, this FOA supports the development of non-standard modeling methods, experimental approaches to facilitate multi-scale modeling, and active participation in community-driven activities.

The purpose of these awards is to assist in fostering highly innovative or conceptually creative research related to drug abuse and addiction and how to prevent and treat them.

In an effort to provide medical students the opportunity to conduct hypothesis-driven research under the direction of a faculty mentor, the ACTSI Research Technologies program has established a mini-grant program.

With the BMEidea competition, the nation’s leading competition for biomedical and bioengineering students, students are challenged to pioneer a health-related technology that addresses a real clinical need. Win up to $10,000 and receive critical early-stage validation of your ideas.

This FOA invites applications for institutional research career development (K12) programs from applicant organizations that propose to support a national program of mentored institutional career development programs for junior faculty investigators who have recently completed postgraduate clinical training in a subspecialty area of Pediatrics, and are committed to launching an independent research career.

Applications are being accepted for the MSCR degree program for classes beginning in August. The Emory MSCR is part of the Research Education, Training, and Career Development (RETCD) program of the ACTSI (NIH-funded CTSA award. The MSCR provides didactic and mentored clinical and/or translational research training. The program is designed for participants who hold a doctorate or equivalent degree (such as physicians including fellows and junior faculty and PhD-level scientists including postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty) and have demonstrated a commitment to a career in clinical investigation that incorporates clinical and/or translational research. The CPTR is a multidisciplinary, innovative program which provides predoctoral or postdoctoral trainees with the expertise and experience to translate fundamental biomedical scientific discoveries into treatments that will benefit human health.

The Indiana University School of Medicine has announced a certificate program that will provide clinician administrators skills to coordinate care and deliver population health management to improve health outcomes at a lower cost. The certificate aims to give program participants applied knowledge on how to identify, implement, localize, evaluate, and scale up evidence-based practices.
