Addressing Health Inequities in Clinical Diagnostics: Notice of Technical Webinar - July 10

NCATS and participating Institutes and Centers will hold a pre-submission technical assistance live webinar regarding applications in response to PAR-24-157 and PAR-24-158 – Addressing Health Inequities in Clinical Diagnostics. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 3:00 PM ET. All interested individuals must register in advance to participate in the webinar via Zoom.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Clinical Trial Participation from Underrepresented Groups – LOI Due September 12

Academy Health is working with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to disseminate latest RFP under Equity in Access Research Program. “Building Evidence for Effective Interventions to Increase Therapeutic Cancer Clinical Trial Accrual: Promoting Access for Patients from Underrepresented Groups,” will fund research studies that will increase our understanding of effective interventions for increasing accrual in therapeutic cancer clinical trials, particularly among underrepresented populations. LLS will review submissions to allocate up to $2.5 million per funded study over 5 years, with awards to begin next summer.

Phlebotomy 101 Training – July 25 & 26

Phlebotomy 101 is a two-day introductory classroom and clinical hands-on training that teaches the techniques of venipuncture. Led by the GCRC nurses, the course is offered to Georgia-CTSA affiliated partners.

Call for Rural Health Papers – Submit an Inquiry by July 19

Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD), a public health journal published by the CDC, welcomes submissions for its upcoming collection, Rural Health Disparities: Contemporary Solutions for Persistent Rural Public Health Challenges . The goal of this collection is to capture current solutions to these challenges. Peer-reviewed articles in this collection will help advance the discourse on rural public health beyond biomedical models for chronic disease prevention. PCD encourages authors to explore the social determinants of health, environmental influences, policy interventions, and community-based initiatives contributing to chronic disease prevention in rural areas.
