Georgia All-Payer Claims Database Now Open to Georgia CTSA Researchers for Data Requests
"The Georgia All-Payer Claims Database (APCD) represents a tremendous new resource for advancing health in Georgia. We look forward to working with Georgia CTSA researchers to address topics such as health outcomes, cost, quality, and access to care," says Jon Duke MD, MS, Georgia CTSA Co-Director Informatics and Health Analytics, Georgia Tech Research Institute. APCD is a collection of healthcare claims data for public & private insurance plans.

Fall 2024 Clinical and Translational Science Courses Available
Faculty, postdocs, and PhD students are welcome to enroll in the following fall semester courses via Zoom through the Laney Graduate School: MSCR 515 Scientific Communication for Clinical & Translational Science, MSCR 596 Advanced Data Management in R, and CPTS 500 Fundamentals of Epidemiology. Tuition awards are not available, but faculty and postdocs at Emory may be eligible for the Emory Courtesy Scholarship if employed for at least one year.

Georgia CTSA TL1 Trainee Sydni Williams Selected As ElevateMeD Scholar
Congratulations to Georgia CTSA TL1 Trainee Sydni Williams, Emory, selected as ElevateMeD Scholar . The application pool featured over 80 nominees from 27 partnering medical schools. Williams will receive a $10,000 scholarship, mentorship, leadership development, financial wellness, and peer network. The program is designed to develop the next generation of physician leaders from African-American/Black, Latinx, and Native American backgrounds.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Clinical Trial Participation from Underrepresented Groups – LOI Due September 12
Academy Health is working with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to disseminate latest RFP under Equity in Access Research Program. “Building Evidence for Effective Interventions to Increase Therapeutic Cancer Clinical Trial Accrual: Promoting Access for Patients from Underrepresented Groups,” will fund research studies that will increase our understanding of effective interventions for increasing accrual in therapeutic cancer clinical trials, particularly among underrepresented populations. LLS will review submissions to allocate up to $2.5 million per funded study over 5 years, with awards to begin next summer.

This is a request for collaboration on the research study: Insertable Cardiac Monitor for Primary Atrial Fibrillation Detection in High-Risk Heart Failure Patients, ASSERT-AF, trial. Call for Rural Health Papers – Submit an Inquiry by July 19
Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD), a public health journal published by the CDC, welcomes submissions for its upcoming collection, Rural Health Disparities: Contemporary Solutions for Persistent Rural Public Health Challenges . The goal of this collection is to capture current solutions to these challenges. Peer-reviewed articles in this collection will help advance the discourse on rural public health beyond biomedical models for chronic disease prevention. PCD encourages authors to explore the social determinants of health, environmental influences, policy interventions, and community-based initiatives contributing to chronic disease prevention in rural areas.
