New Mobile App “Fabla” Transforms Daily Diary Research for Depression Treatment Clinical Trial
In a groundbreaking step for behavioral health research, Deanna Kaplan, PhD, Emory, has partnered with Georgia CTSA’s AppHatchery to develop Fabla , a mobile app that simplifies the way researchers collect real-world data. Designed to capture voice entries from users throughout their daily lives, Fabla is currently being used in a clinical trial to help researchers better understand the vocal patterns associated with depression.

Beloved Mentor Amita Manatunga Honored with Emory’s Exemplary Teacher of the Year Award
Amita Manatunga, PhD, professor, Biostatistics, Rollins School of Public Health, has provided impactful mentorship for over 30 years. Dr. Manatunga serves as Georgia CTSA’s Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design senior biostatistician; was involved in the Master of Science in Clinical Research program’s development; and is a Research Education Executive Committee member, MSCR thesis co-chair, and High Dimensional Data course director.

POCTRN Innovation Awards — Due June 6
Do you have a groundbreaking point-of-care technology ready for further development? The Point-of-Care Technology Research Network (POCTRN)) is pleased to announce six new innovation award opportunities from its centers. We are currently seeking applications from academic and industry applicants who have innovative point-of-care technologies in areas of chronic disease, infectious disease and disease prevention, such as cancer detection, heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders, STIs, emerging infectious disease in low-resource settings, and more. Awards up to $150,000, may also receive 12 months of in-kind support services.

Emory SOM P4 Fast Track Awards – Ongoing
Emory SOM in partnership with Winship, CHOA, Grady, and CFAR, invites applications for the P4 (Pivot, Proposal, and Planning Program) Fast Track Awards—a new funding mechanism supporting SOM faculty whose grants were recently terminated due to federal funding shifts. Awards of up to $100,000 (direct costs) are available for one year, with potential for renewal. Eligible PIs must propose a novel research pivot aligned with NIH priorities and have ≤$200K in other direct funding. Learn More.

The Certificate Program in Translational Science (CPTS) is a formal 16-credit Emory Laney Graduate School program for trainees who seek to conduct research at interface between basic and translational science and clinical medicine.
