Georgia CTSA Launches AI Regulation Blog
Georgia CTSA is proud to launch a new blog on Regulatory Knowledge and Artificial Intelligence to stimulate opinion and insights on the ethical and political dimensions of regulating AI models. The blog’s editors are Eunji Emily Kim, MS, MA, doctoral student, School of Public Policy, Georgia Tech, and Georgia CTSA Regulatory Knowledge and Support leader John Banja, PhD, professor, Emory Center for Ethics. Emory Convocation Speaker Christina Gavegnano Gives Undergraduates Access to Groundbreaking Lab Research
Georgia CTSA CPTS graduate Christina Gavegnano , PhD, Assistant Professor, Emory, has developed two anti-inflammatory medicines that help save lives. On the same day in 2020 that the FDA granted emergency use of her second drug for the treatment of severe COVID-19, Gavegnano used her royalties to create an undergraduate drug discovery lab . In her Emory Convocation speech , she encouraged the Class of 2028 to start their own remarkable trajectories.

Georgia CTSA is pleased to announce Pilot Grant recipients in Round #141 Georgia CTSA/REM Program . The Regenerative Engineering and Medicine (REM) Center is a partnership with Georgia Tech, Emory, and UGA that supports and facilitates inter-institutional collaborations in research leading in the area of Regenerative Medicine. This cycle was particularly interested in proposals that explore the intersection of regenerative medicine and aging.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Clinical Trial Participation from Underrepresented Groups – LOI Due September 12
Academy Health is working with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to disseminate latest RFP under Equity in Access Research Program. “Building Evidence for Effective Interventions to Increase Therapeutic Cancer Clinical Trial Accrual: Promoting Access for Patients from Underrepresented Groups,” will fund research studies that will increase our understanding of effective interventions for increasing accrual in therapeutic cancer clinical trials, particularly among underrepresented populations. LLS will review submissions to allocate up to $2.5 million per funded study over 5 years, with awards to begin July 1, 2025.

The Georgia CTSA Recruitment Center is recruiting patients or care partners who receive care at Emory Healthcare or Grady Hospital to join a Patient Panel. Researchers, care providers, or other faculty and staff can share the flyer linked here with interested patients. This panel will serve as a resource for all CTSA investigators who are looking to gain patient insight about specific aspects of their study, or general research topics. Panel discussion topics could include designing recruitment materials, developing consent language, best practices for research recruitment contact, and more.
