CTSA Scholars and Trainees Expand the Reach of Translational Science

In a new study in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Science, lead author Eric Nehl, PhD, Director, Georgia CTSA Evaluation and Continuous Improvement, Emory, collaborated with colleagues across multiple CTSA hubs to evaluate public reach of research produced by KL2 scholars and TL1 trainees across the U.S. The publication provides insights into how early-career scientists are contributing to broader public health and policy conversations.

Reducing Dialysis Burden: Georgia CTSA Clinical Research Center Supports TwoPlus Trial

“GCRCs gave me the support, knowledge, and peace of mind that things were done right,” says Vandana Dua Niyyar, MD, Emory. Her team partnered with the GCRCs to build the regulatory and operational backbone needed for Emory’s participation. TwoPlus is a multicenter randomized study comparing an incremental start to hemodialysis, twice weekly versus conventional thrice-weekly care, to reduce treatment burden while maintaining safety and efficacy.

Georgia CTSA Team Science Winner Receives $2.95M NIH R01 to Advance Brain Thermometry

A multidisciplinary team led by Candace C. Fleischer has received a $2.95 million R01 grant to develop and clinically validate a novel method for assessing human brain temperature. “The project which formed the basis for receiving the 2024 Georgia CTSA Team Science Award was awarded an NIH R01 for this work. Thank you again for recognizing our team and our work,” says Candace C. Fleischer, PhD, Associate Professor, Georgia Tech and Emory.
