ACTSI Investigator Dr. Tim Read in the News
Tim Read, PhD, is and ACTSI investigator and associate professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Emory University School of Medicine. His interests center on the application of genomics technologies to understanding infectious diseases. He works to characterize multiple genomics of pathogen species (Population Genomics), uncovering the rates of horizontal gene transfer, positive selection, and homologous recombination in Bacillus anthracis (anthrax), Chlamydia trachomatis, and Yersinia pestis (bubonic plague), among others. He is also developing a web-based system for rapid determination of antibiotic resistance profiles in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. In his free time, he loves to play soccer and is an ardent fan of English Premier League team Arsenal (despite the ongoing emotional stress that comes with this).
