ACTSI Investigator Dr. Laurence Sperling in the News
Laurence Sperling, MD, ACTSI investigator, professor in the Division of Cardiology, School of Medicine, director of the Center for Heart Disease Prevention at Emory University, and President of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology. His research efforts are focused on preventive cardiology through the use of diet, omega 3 fatty acids and therapeutic lifestyle changes to reduce vascular risks. In his free time, Sperling is a marathon runner; in 2010 he ran the original course from Marathon to Athens, Greece to celebrate the 2500th anniversary of this event.

Sperling served as a mentor in the Discovery phase of the School of Medicine’s curriculum. This program is a major part of the students’ training and sets them apart from graduates of other medical schools.
Sperling received Press Ganey Physician Recognition. These faculty members scored at or above the 90% on Press Ganey patient satisfaction surveys in every quarter of FY14. Each physician received more than 30 surveys per quarter.
