New research led by Jennifer S. Stevens, PhD, Emory, provides direct evidence in humans that the ovarian hormone estradiol plays a key role in shaping how the brain responds to perceived threats after trauma. The study published in PNAS was supported by NIH and NSF and has implications for prevention and treatment.
