In a new study, Georgia Tech researchers and collaborators created a fully synthetic gel alternative to Matrigel, designed to give intestinal stem cells what they need to grow and organize into healthy tissue. “We are excited about engineering this synthetic matrix as an alternative to natural materials and expect that it will accelerate human organoid research and clinical applications,” says Georgia CTSA PI Andrés J.
