Epic Cosmos Datathon 2026

We are excited to invite you to participate in the Emory Cosmos Datathon 2026 (August 4-5, 2026), a collaborative two-day event bringing together clinicians, researchers, trainees, and data scientists to explore innovative research using Epic Cosmos, one of the largest de-identified electronic health record (EHR) databases in the world, with over 300 million patient records.
Whether you are interested in actively participating as part of a multidisciplinary team or simply attending educational sessions, there are opportunities to engage at every level.
During this two-day datathon, participants will work collaboratively to explore real-world health data, address pressing clinical and health services research questions, and develop impactful projects. Teams will receive guidance from clinical subject-matter experts and Epic staff while investigating topics such as:
- Quality and patient safety
- Clinical operations
- Cost-effectiveness
- Clinical outcomes
Participating teams will have the opportunity to compete for an HSR Center-funded award, which will support the advancement of their projects toward publication, conference presentation, or a larger grant submission.
Who Should Attend?
Individuals from all disciplines are encouraged to attend, including clinicians, faculty, trainees, researchers, analysts, and data scientists.
For Non-Cosmos Users:
You are still encouraged to attend! Non-Cosmos users are welcome to join the educational sessions on the morning of Tuesday, August 4th, and return for the team presentations and award announcement on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 5th.
