Emory Children's Center Research Unit (ECC-RU)
Georgia CTSA Pediatrics, in collaboration with the GCRC and Emory Department of Pediatrics, supports a Clinical Research Site located at the Emory Children's Center. The Emory Children's Center Research Unit (ECC-RU) is designed to provide the necessary infrastructure for investigators conducting outpatient, low intervention pediatric research and is a pediatric clinical research site of the Georgia CTSA. The center will improve the ability of pediatric researchers to perform innovative research while providing patients and their families with increased access to leading-edge clinical trials.
About the Unit
The ECC-RU is designed to provide the necessary infrastructure for investigators conducting pediatric research. Located at the Emory Children's Center (2015 Uppergate Drive), first floor rooms 164, 170, 172, and 173. The facilities and services include:
- An Emory University space dedicated to research-only subject visits for IRB approved studies
- The rooms are available to Pediatric Institute members and their team members
- Two exam rooms
- One consultation room, which can also be used as an exam room
- One research staff workroom
- Safe for securing patient stipends
- Supporting low intervention studies
- Investigator teams bring their own personnel to the space for the conduct of their trials
- A research team member will meet all patients in the lobby of the Emory Children's Center and escort them to the scheduled room
- The rooms will have gloves, paper for exam tables, sharps containers, hand sanitizer, and sanitizing wipes. The study teams will need to provide any other needed supplies.
- A copy of the current IRB approval letter is needed to use the research unit.
Co-sponsored and managed by the Emory+Children's Pediatric Research Center's Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) including policies, oversight, and key access. Any studies requiring more intensive nursing interventions or monitoring will be referred to as the Georgia CTSA Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Egleston.
The GCRC provides support for the conduct of patient-oriented research at multiple sites across the state and includes sites at Emory University Hospital, Emory Midtown, Grady Memorial Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, the Morehouse School of Medicine GCRC, and many others.
Appointments/Scheduling
ECC-RU has a dedicated online scheduling system.
Rooms may be booked from 30 minutes up to two hours; Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; other hours and days may be considered upon request and will require prior approval from CCTR.
